Triangle of Sadness
Riotously funny with a barbed wire-sharp wit, Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated Triangle of Sadness garnered Ruben Östlund (The Square, Force Majeure) his second Cannes Palme d’Or award.
Director: Ruben Östlund
Overview
Set sail on Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or-winning, darkly hilarious, chaotic cruise from Hell. Young, hot and handsome male model Carl (Harris Dickinson) feels displaced in the fashion world. Meanwhile, his model and influencer girlfriend Yaya (Charlbi Dean), though much more successful than he is, expects him to pick up the bill for everything. Despite all this, Carl happily accompanies Yaya on an all-expenses-paid luxury cruise. Once aboard, they find themselves among the sickeningly super-rich, in an amusingly fragile social hierarchy. But there’s a storm approaching…
Recipient of three Academy Award nominations, including for Best Picture and Best Director, Östlund’s first English-language feature, and winner of his second Palme d'Or, is an extremely satisfying takedown of the rich and the beautiful and a twisted tour-de-force.
