Only Lovers Left Alive
Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton star as ageless, blood-drinking lovers in Jim Jarmusch’s clever, funny and sexy vampire tale.
Director: Jim Jarmusch
Overview
A vampire movie unlike any other, with Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton) as timeless lovers whose centuries’-old romance is rekindled when Eve relocates to Detroit - where the good blood is - only for her younger sister (Mia Wasikowska) to turn up and destroy the peace.
Jarmusch evokes an ethereal, narcotic atmosphere for his smart, sexy and singular take on the vampire mythos, augmented with a superb soundtrack by the director’s own post-rock collective, SQÜRL. A droll meditation on humanity’s achievements over the centuries – and a peculiar paean to the power of love, Only Lovers Left Alive is as profoundly personal, and as effortlessly imaginative, as anything Jarmusch has made.
