Overview
This 1951 film captures the ancient market town in which Saxon kings were crowned. From the Kings Stone which gave Kingston it's name, to the range of fresh produce available in the local marketplace, this amateur film presents a very glossy view of the Royal Borough. From the grammar school to the technical college and the busy shopping centre with its crowning glory - the department store Bentalls - to a lingering look in the window of the local photographic shop.
This film is from the collection of Kingston Heritage Service, a member of the London's Screen Archives Network.
