Overview

To the sound of the rhythmic clatter of textile looms, this film gives a brief history of handloom weaving, and examines how the technology works. We take a detailed look at the flying shuttle and the more sophisticated method of Jacquard weaving, as weavers from Cartwright & Sheldon Ltd. of Macclesfield, and UMIST's Textile Technology Department demonstrate their expertise.
