What We Do in the Shadows
An achingly funny mockumentary about New Zealand’s hitherto unknown vampire (and werewolf) communities, from the creators of Flight of the Conchords.
Director: Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement
Overview
Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, director and star of Flight of the Conchords, reunite for a seriously hilarious vampire comedy. A documentary crew follows our four undead flatmates as they bicker about the washing up, agonise about the propriety of virgin slaying, and frequently clash with a pack of uptight local werewolves (led by Conchords’ ‘Murray’, Rhys Darby).
Just when you thought there was no life left in the vampire comedy, it’s resurrected with relish, invention and warmth, replicating the deadpan silliness of Waititi and Clement’s hit HBO series, and, ultimately, staking its place in the mockumentary canon alongside the Spinal Taps and Best in Shows.
