The Mummy PG rating

Classic Hammer horror of a reanimated ancient Egyptian mummy, who returns from his tomb to seek vengeance on its desecrators.

Horror 1959 88 mins

Director: Terence Fisher

Overview

Emerging from a fetid swamp bent on violence, Hammer's mummy, Kharis (a splendid Christopher Lee), was more monstrous than the 1930s Universal original (played by Boris Karloff). Trussed in mouldy bandages, Lee's monster dispenses mute wrath upon tomb desecrators, while his eyes tell a tale of torment. Meek archaeologist Banning - an impeccable Peter Cushing - makes a memorable adversary.
