Trebettyn - hens, dog and straw
The Iles family enjoy the good life at Trebettyn farm in Cowbridge, having moved out of the city – Cardiff – to pastures greener.

Overview
Seeking the good life, the Iles family moved from Cardiff to a farm near Cowbridge just before Christmas 1948. At ‘Trebettyn’ the Iles girls can indulge their passion for ponies and, as seen here, there is plenty of space for the hens that were previously confined to the back garden at ‘Branksome’, 181 Heathwood Road. A collie dog is also in residence as well as, it appears, a straw man!
Reginald George Iles worked in the Bonus Department of Imperial Tobacco in Cardiff but outside of work filmed local shows for The South Wales and Monmouthire Agricultural and Horse Shows Association, of which he was a founder member. He would screen the films in Cardiff (e.g. at the Park Hotel) and elsewhere in the area during the winter months. His two daughters were keen horse-riders and both became horse breeders.
