Sussex V Kent County Cricket Match
Large crowds gather for cricket week at Canterbury's St Lawrence Ground, as Kent take on Sussex and Nottinghamshire.
Overview
The county cricket matches between Kent, Sussex and Nottinghamshire in this fascinating film are almost an aside to the wonderful glimpse it offers into a bygone era. Large crowds from all walks of life flock to the St Lawrence ground in Canterbury to see cricketers such as Wally Hardinge and Punter Humphreys, two of Kent's best-known players. The film takes us from lavish marquees with waiter service and rows of motor cars to the simpler pleasures of picnics on the grass and a nice bottle of beer.
Kent defeated Sussex by 240 runs. The match against Nottinghamshire ended in a draw.
