Conway - River of a Thousand Moods

Take a scenic trip through North Wales to the sea with this peaceful 1920s travelogue.

Travelogue 1921 11 mins Silent

Overview

This peaceful travelogue traces the course of the River Conwy through North Wales from Llyn Conwy to Conwy Castle and the Irish Sea beyond, taking in Ysbyty Ifan, Conwy Falls and Fairy Glen at Betws-y-Coed. The picturesque scenes convey the beauty and diversity of the landscape, from moorland and open plains to rolling hills and valleys, with one lovely sequence filmed from a moving train.

One of a series of 'stereo-scenic' travelogues made for the Hepworth Company, this was filmed by Gaston Quiribet, a Frenchman who went on to make the 1924 sci-fi curio The Fugitive Futurist.
