Troops Training for the First World War

O Canada! Away from their native land, these troops are prepared for the Western Front at a Canadian Training School

1917 9 mins Silent

Overview

Over 600,000 Canadians were enlisted to the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WWI. Many were British-born emigres, returning to defend their homeland but leaving their newly settled families far behind. This film was likely captured at the recently established Canadian Training School in Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex in 1917. Unfortunately it is missing sections from the beginning and end.
