Trip down the Clyde Dumbarton Rock
Visits to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, Dumbarton Rock and the thriving shipyards of the Clyde estuary.
Overview
This short River Clyde cruise from Dumbarton Rock to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute showcases the estuary's thriving shipyards alongside Strathclyde's rugged and beautiful landscape. It's a fascinating juxtaposition: the mighty Clydeside shipbuilding industry nestling beneath castle-topped crags. But the shipyards - like the ancient castles before them - have since crumbled to ruin and dereliction.
This travelogue featured in the weekly cinemagazine 'Around the Town', an entertainment 'topical' distributed by Gaumont from 1919-1923 which specialised in scenes from current stage shows.
