"Princess Margaret"
Shipbuilders admire their craft as the SS Princess Margaret launches in picturesque Dumbarton.
Overview
Prepare to be wowed at the majestic, champagne-fuelled launch of the SS Princess Margaret, in beautifully scenic Dumbarton, Scotland. At the request of the London Midland and Scottish Railway, this passenger ship was built in 1931 by William Denny, and the ceremony filmed by Topical Budget in the silent newsreel's final year of production. Built for the Stranraer to Larne route, she also sailed coastal cruises from Larne to Bangor and later Heysham to Belfast.
