Street Scene in Boar Lane (Leeds)
Busy Leeds traffic
Non-Fiction 1898 2 mins
Overview
This is a nice Leeds street scene made by the Riley Brothers of Bradford in 1898. It captures bustling Boar Lane traffic, with electric trams, a solo horse rider and other horse-drawn vehicles mingling with pedestrians.
The Warwick Trading Company catalogue for 1898 describes this as one of the best street scenes on offer at that time. The Brothers' other street scene, shot in their home town of Bradford, is described as "of local interest but not so good as Leeds".
