Overview
This silent industrial film made for A. Booth and Sons of Ilkeston shows both a busy textile factory at work and the social life surrounding the company. Saving the limited colour stock for scenes of workers heading home or enjoying a party are unthinkable in today's world of corporate brand marketing of 'the product', but it leaves us now with a warm glow of nostalgia for the days of company social clubs, when 'the works' truly were at the centre of the community.
