Overview

Amateur filmmaker Barrett Jenkins picked up a Kodak BB cine camera from his father's High Street store, and became enthused to record local events. On Whit Monday 1928, Barrett filmed the races and prize giving of the ‘Rural Sports’ held on Southwold Common. Men, women, and children have fun competing and testing their strength and agility. But it’s not always the strongest or fastest that takes first prize, as a slow and steady pace wins the ‘slow cycle race’.
