Overview
This is film of possibly the first Indian amateur cricket club to be formed in England, made up of immigrants who have settled in Bradford. It consists of excerpts of a match being played at Bradford Park Avenue against an unknown team in 1978, with possibly Lord Kamlesh Patel playing, one time member of the Interlink Cricket Club. At the end a sweet small girl, having bathed in a sink and overcome camera shyness, shows some promise as a pop star.
This film was taken by Keith Dorrington at the cricket ground (additional footage my Mohan Mistry.) The Interlink Cricket Club that formed in 1970, as part of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School Cricket League, with a Youth Club on St Margaret’s Road, and managed by Rev. Keith Potter of St Columbus Church in Great Horton. The club was open to all nationalities, but was mainly made up of players who had come from India and several from Pakistan. A DVD tracing the history of the club, until it changed management in 1979, was recently made, narrated by founding member Mohan Mistry.
