From Wool to Wearer
"The romance of Pesco underwear," as produced by Peter Scott Knitwear (aka Pesco), in Hawick.
Overview
"The romance of Pesco underwear" - and the hard work involved in its production at the Peter Scott Knitwear mill in Hawick, on the Scottish borders. Australian sheep farmers provide the wool which is spun, knitted and 'scoured' in the Hawick works. This incomplete silent film has parallel English and French intertitles, suggesting that Pesco's romance charmed its way across the Channel.
Hawick has been a centre of knitwear since the 18th century, and Peter Scott Knitwear is still operational in the town.
