Fourth Round Cup Thrills

Liverpool and Manchester United come down south to do battle with Fulham and Tottenham in football's FA Cup.

Non-Fiction 1926 2 mins Silent

Overview

It was the 30th January 1926 and Liverpool and Manchester United had come down south for a place in the FA Cup fifth round. Liverpool, in dark shorts, appear to score two goals (one disallowed?) but Fulham coped better with the very muddy pitch at Craven Cottage. Judging from the poor quality of the footage, Topical Budget was not the official newsreel at White Hart Lane as Spurs, in white shirts, took on United. At least it looks like Spurs' goals have been captured.

At Craven Cottage the camera had a front row seat, capturing all the fun and excitement of a big game atmosphere, whereas at White Hart Lane the cameraman appears to have snuck in amongst the crowd, with the prime camera position taken up by British Pathe.
