Careful Charlie

Cartoon calamities are in store for the proper Charlie in this rail worker safety message, but there's serious advice too

Animation & Artists Moving Image 1970 3 mins

Overview

Cartoon physics have been saving lives since the 1900s. Being hit by a train is rarely comic outside of an animated environment, but most rail engineers are all too able to make the connection with the real life. This character is one of a long line of animated Charlies in British animation, alongside Halas & Batchelor's Charley series of the 1940s and the iconic Charlie cat of the 1970s.
