Overview
This particularly well-photographed newsreel item follows the action at the annual Imperial Rifle Meet at Bisley, where crack shots compete for the coveted Queen's Prize. The footage includes scenes of the Scottish Riflemen taking aim, the camp where the marksmen sleep during the meet, and a portrait of a female competitor - the stern Miss Wallace, an unlikely-looking class shot.
The National Rifle Association was founded in 1859 in the interests of promoting marksmanship in support of the Defence of the Realm and Volunteer Forces. It still resides in Bisley, with the annual Imperial Meet held every July.
