Egypt and Her Defenders

Cairo street scenes, the pyramids, the majestic Nile and a visiting Lord Kitchener in a gorgeous tinted travelogue.

Overview

This lovely travelogue shows off Egypt's exotic delights to an audience that could hardly hope to see them with their own eyes. It acquires some topical gravitas with the presence of Lord Kitchener, seen inspecting Egyptian and Indian troops as war clouds gathered. The film was released in November, by which time Kitchener was very much in the public eye as Secretary of State for War.
