The Quatermass Xperiment
When the sole survivor from an orbital mission returns, the brilliant Professor Quatermass (Brian Donlevy) discovers the astronaut is not quite all that he seems...
Horror 1955 82 mins
Director: Val Guest
Overview
Adapted from the iconic BBC series, Nigel Kneale's Professor Quatermass is second only to a certain Doctor in his ranking amongst British sci-fi's elite practitioners. When a sole survivor returns from an orbital mission, Professor Quatermass suggests all is not as it seems. In this plain-clothes invasion classic with a memorable climax at Westminster Abbey, Hammer Productions present a more adult spin on the wildly popular primetime TV serial, even emphasising the film's darker tone by proudly foregrounding the film's (then rare) 'X' certificate rating in its titular misspelling.
