Pauline at the Beach
Eric Rohmer's final collaboration with the great cinematographer Néstor Almendros follows a holidaying teenager as she begins to navigate the adult world.
Director: Eric Rohmer
Overview
A teenager holidaying with her older cousin - who's courted by a jealous windsurfer and a womanising sophisticate - observes and gets caught up in the murky ways of the adult world. Rohmer's final collaboration with the great cinematographer Néstor Almendros, who provides the summery palette of Matisse, illustrates a line from Rohmer's earlier Perceval le Gallois about the dangers of careless talk.
The third film in Rohmer's Comedies and Proverbs series.
