Barking Dogs Never Bite
A professor takes drastic action to silence a barking dog in this superb debut feature from Bong Joon-ho, the Oscar-winning director of Parasite.
Director: Bong Joon-ho
Overview
In a bustling apartment building, out-of-work college professor Ko Yun-ju (Sung-jae Lee) grows increasingly irritated by the incessant barking of dogs so hatches a plan to put an end to their noisy reign. Meanwhile, curious young woman, Park Hyun-nam (Doona Bae), takes it upon herself to unravel the mystery of the vanishing canines. Bong Joon-ho’s sharp satire of modern urban life deftly tackles themes of alienation, social discontent, the hunger for fame and animal rights.
