Twice Branded
The great James Mason has a juicy early role in this dynamic vintage drama of false imprisonment, disgrace, deception and family intrigue.
Director: Maclean Rogers
Overview
James Mason is in fine form in this fiery family drama. Having served twelve years for a crime he didn’t commit, a father returns home to find that his family have pretended that he was dead to save themselves from disgrace. Posing as an uncle from South America, he struggles to protect his son from the same fraudster that ruined his own career.
Originally released in 1936, Twice Branded was reissued in 1947 under the title Father & Son. The following statement was added before the opening credits: ‘The audience is respectfully reminded that in this film James Mason started his screen career to world fame’.
