Overview

Set in 1913, Peckinpah’s elegy for the passing of the Old West centres on a gang of outlaws all too aware that their idiosyncratic and macho codes of honour no longer hold sway in a world where money, power and corruption count for everything. At once violent and lyrical, nostalgic yet nihilistic, the film is in many ways the antithesis of the classic Ford western.
