Do you believe in flying saucers? Intrepid investigator Dan Farson weighs up the evidence in this fascinating TV film.
Director: Geoffrey Hughes
Overview
Something like a 1950s Louis Theroux, erudite investigator Dan Farson weighs up the case for and against the existence of flying saucers and visitors from other planets. He speaks to members of the public on the streets and interviews sceptics and prominent proponents of ufology before drawing his final conclusions.
Many key figures in the 1950s flying saucer debate appear in this film. Brinsley Le Poer Trench, then editor of Flying Saucer Review, founded the House of Lords' first UFO study group, while Dr Percy Wilkins, famous for his moon map, later had a crater named after him. George King founded the Aetherius Society, the New Age organisation that claims to work with extra-terrestrial intelligences to save the world. We also meet former Astronomer Royal Sir Harold Spencer Jones, a staunch disbeliever in the possibility of space travel, and Gavin Gibbons, a Shropshire-based UFO investigator.
