Overview
Michael Fassbender is the man inside the papier-mâché head, in this fictionalised reimagining of the story of northern entertainer Frank Sidebottom (aka Chris Sievey). A young wannabe musician Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), who finds himself out of his depth when he joins an avant-garde pop band, led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank (Michael Fassbender) and his terrifying bandmate Clara (Maggie Gyllenhaal).
Directed by the acclaimed Irish filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson (What Richard Did) and adapted from Jon Ronson’s memoir by Bafta-winning screenwriter Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Frank is a deliciously off-beat and apt tribute to the singular talent of Chris Sievey and his unnerving alter-ego.
