Born in-a Babylon

A portrait of Rastafarians living in Tottenham at the start of the new millennium.

Documentary 2000 35 mins

Director: Nicolas Chaudeurge

Members of the Rastafari Universal Zion in Tottenham discuss their religion and life in the UK. The elders of the movement explain Rastafarian history, beliefs and doctrine, while younger UK-born members voice different interpretations of their culture. Filmed in 2000 by Nicholas Chaudeurge, then an editing student at the National Film and Television School, the film offers rarely seen insights into Rastafarian culture told from the perspective of the UK's foremost adherents.
