With precision and pertinence, Ramin Bahrani’s drama reveals the human cost of the 21st-century economic crisis.
Director: Ramin Bahrani
Overview
Dennis Nash (Andrew Garfield) is a hard-working family man who can’t save his family home despite his best efforts. Following the pain of eviction he’s offered a deeply compromised return to prosperity by real estate shark Mike Carver (Michael Shannon) – a job working for the very firm that turfed him out, enacting the trauma of eviction on families just like his.
Anchored around the conviction of its two lead performers, Ramin Bahrani’s timely and rewarding film punctures the corrupting influence of dog-eat-dog capitalism with considered assurance.
