Relax
A gay man awaits the results of an HIV test, drifting into moments of fantasy as he copes with his fears and memories.
Director: Christopher Newby
Overview
A man waits for the results of an HIV test and retreats into fantasy in Chris Newby’s award-winning short. Studded with intensely erotic scenes, Relax draws a clear correlation between sex and death (the man strips for both his lover and his doctor), while the beautifully dreamy black and white photography is shattered by the only use of colour - the crimson of his possibly infected blood.
