Steel Windows

A window on to a futuristic vision of concrete, glass and steel.

Documentary 1970 7 mins

Overview

There's a whiff of James Bond about this striking promo for steel window construction. More futuristic short than industrial process film, its shimmering steelscapes are cut between close ups of machinery and set to a cool, otherworldly, soundtrack from the cutting edge of modernism - with no dull commentary to spoil the vibe. Strangely absorbing and refreshingly abstract, it's an enticing vision of British modernity in concrete, glass and steel.

Made in 1970, the film was sponsored by the Steel Windows Association and produced by the aptly-named New Decade films.
