Overview

A bored teenage girl is overjoyed when her suave and mysterious uncle Charlie comes to stay, only to become horrified when she realises he may be a fugitive murderer.

Famously, Shadow of a Doubt was Hitchcock’s personal favourite from his body of work. The director felt the film was achieved a rare balance between natural characterisation and the mechanics of suspense, and it’s hard to argue with his estimation of a film described by critic Dave Kehr as Hitchcock’s "first indisputable masterpiece”.
