John English
The original MAC Daddy; profile of Midland Arts Centre founder-director John English
Overview
Fancy a big MAC? Local glassmaker turned theatre director John English had such a hunger for culture in the community that he was inspired to set up the Midlands Arts Centre. He pitches his project as a community focus for a post-work society - issues still on the horizon over four decades on. He was a perfect figure for the Central Office of Information’s Pacesetter series, which sent portraits of dynamic Brits overseas. Look out for fleeting glimpses of Tony Robinson.
