Where the Cheese Comes From
Blessed are the cheesemakers of Somerset in this tour of Cheddar and nearby Glastonbury.
Overview
Which came first, Cheddar or the cheese? This lively silent travelogue from the 'Wonderful Britain' series may not answer the question, but suggests that, were it in America, this pretty Somerset town would surely have been called Cheeseville. The intertitles offer quips and facts in equal measure, although the light-hearted remarks about some rather rough handling of animals at the market leave a bit of sour taste.
After a whizz round the village and the gorgeous gorge, the film takes a tour of the popular travelogue spot of Glastonbury, at a time when the headline act was still the ruins of the abbey.
