Fire Drill: Crystal Palace

An impressive demonstration by the Kansas City Fire Department

Non-Fiction 1900 2 mins Silent

Overview

Kansas City's star firefighters, on a visit to Crystal Palace, show off the stunning techniques which won them top prize at the recent Paris Exposition Universelle 1900. The horse-drawn fire engine draws up out side one of the Crystal Palace buildings and the ladder is wheeled into position and firemen ascend; a second shot along the Italian Terrace shows horses being rapidly harnessed and unharnessed in an open arena.

This film was shot by G A Smith for the Warwick Trading Company. There is another film of the same event showing horses training with burning hoops.
