Cotmanhay Youth Report
Trapped by disillusionment - Cotmanhay becomes a prison for Anthony.
From the collection of:
Overview
17 year old Anthony lives at Cotmanhay in Derbyshire. Without a job and, from his point of view, without a future, things are look very bleak indeed. This film shot for Central Television's Citizen 82 programme provides us with a vivid depiction of life on the margins of Margaret Thatcher's Britain.
Central Television followed up on Anthony's story with an interview in their Citizen 85 series three years later in which he confirmed that he did indeed spend time in prison. A brighter and more optimistic Anthony had begun to rebuild his life.
