Overview

The opening of the Whalley-Clitheroe bypass on the A59 in Lancashire in 1970 was a solution to the seemingly perennial problem of too much traffic clogging town and village streets. This beautifully shot colour film by members of Burnley Cine Club records how the upheaval of construction work leads to a satisfactory outcome as heavy traffic is diverted, and the peace of the streets is restored.
