Overview

London's vibrant and colourful street markets feature in this fascinating documentary, shot at the end of the swinging sixties. There is so much to buy in these busy streets, where the shoppers and tourists mingle. Pets and clothes, fruit and seafood, crafts and bric-a-brac. Table lamp, anyone? A nice bunch of flowers? Or maybe just hang out and watch the world in all its glorious variety go by.

Filmmaker Mary Corner was headmistress of Howard St. Nursery School in Burnley for many years. She was also a highly skilled member of Burnley Cine Club, and her films record not only the early education of children in her care, but community and topical events both locally and further afield.
