A Letter from the Isle of Wight
Thrills, spills and scenic views on the Isle of Wight in this picture postcard Children's Film Foundation drama.
Overview
Young sailor Dick takes his cousin Mary on a tour around the Isle of Wight in this bright and breezy little drama shot around a selection of picture-postcard locations in 1953. There's muddy fun - and a smattering of sea-sprayed adventure too - as they visit Totland Bay, Carisbrooke Castle and the Needles Lighthouse.
Historic Carisbrooke Castle - as visited by Dick and Mary - remains one of the Isle of Wight's best-loved tourist attractions. It was here that political prisoner King Charles I was held under house arrest, following recapture after his escape from Hampton Court in 1647.
