Documentary about a 1988 joint research project between the Royal Geographical Society and Linnean Society, in co-operation with the Government of Western Australia, showing scientists at work on location and interacting with aboriginal peoples. This expedition was a scientific investigation to undertake research into the geomorphology of the limestone landforms and the associated biological resources of the King Leopold and Napier Ranges, Kimberley District, NW Australia. The film spans the planning stages in London to scientists at work in Australia.
The land of the Wandjina is a vast area of about 200,000 square kilometres. The Wandjina is believed to be the supreme creator. Rock art depicting the Wandjina is the oldest continuous sacred painting movement in existence.
