Overview

This short but interesting film starts with a women's singles match on Wimbledon's Centre Court followed by a fourth round men's singles match. Queen Mary can be glimpsed in the Royal Box. Later, on Court Number 2, we see a First Round Mixed Doubles match in progress before returning to Centre Court and Shields' victory. This is followed by a men's doubles match with unidentified players.

The 1934 Wimbledon Championships were signicant for Great Britain because both the men's and the women's singles titles were won by Britons. Fred Perry defeated the Australian, Jack Crawford, in straight sets while Dorothy Round defeated her singles opponent, the American, Helen Hull Jacobs, two sets to one.
