Train Tunnel

A view out of a railway tunnel, which could have formed part of a longer ‘phantom ride’ film.

Non-Fiction 1898 Silent

Overview

‘Phantom rides’ were films taken from the front of moving vehicles – very often trains and trams - and were a very popular genre in early filmmaking. This unidentified fragment is perhaps the beginning of a longer phantom ride film, however, with the faces of the three figures hard to see, and the view from the mouth of the tunnel slightly obscured, it is difficult to identify where and when the film might have been made.
