Overview

The Burry Works were situated in Llanelli, a town that earned the epithet ‘Tinopolis’ during the Victorian era owing to the quantity – and quality - of tinplate manufactured there. Here we see a furnace being opened, steel sheets being lifted by suction and then dunked, coated and rolled before being packaged for dispatch.
