Overview
Southgate became a municipal borough in 1933 and this film from the Charter Day shows royal visitor Prince George, later the Duke of Kent, touring the borough’s attractions. A military band rehearses while the Prince meets Boy Scouts, helps the Mayor dig a hole and jokes with officials. Includes several fine scenes of local landmarks, people and celebrations on what was a special day for the town.
