Sharps and Flats

The Bamforth Company translate their saucy seaside postcard humour into film comedy.

Comedy 1915 11 mins Silent

Overview

The comedy in this tasteless skit from the Bamforth Company comes from juxtaposing text and image: two men deceive their wives into thinking they have been called up for war service but instead go on a spree with a couple of girls. In a series of telegrams and letters they describe their activities in the terminology of a military training camp, while actually cavorting in the woods with the girls. The double entendres succeed each other with diminishing returns.
