Prince of Wales

The future King Edward VIII takes to the waves at Bristol after opening a new dock extension

Non-Fiction 1928 3 mins

Overview

Edward, Prince of Wales, performs his handshaking duties as he opens an extension to the Royal Edward Dock at Avonmouth. After leading a procession before the assembled crowds, he's taken out on one of the ships with other dignitaries. If you think he looks particularly spiffy, this was reportedly the first occasion on which the Prince of Wales wore the uniform of the Master of the Merchant Navy.
