Preparing for Olympic Honours

Thousands of rowers in procession on the lake Langer See in Grünau, Germany

Non-Fiction 1929 1 mins Silent

Overview

This vast flotilla of rowing boats is a magnificent sight even in black and white on the small screen - just imagine what it must have been like on that day on the Langer See in Grünau, near Berlin. Despite what the title cards say, this is most likely a procession for the benefit of the IOC delegates during their visit to Berlin in May 1930.

Grünau has a long and distinguished history of rowing and was the venue for the competitions at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
