Double your chances this Christmas! A very merry Saint Nick plugs Premium Bonds as the perfect pressie in a wonderfully dated TV advert from 1959. Sold as the 'gift with the £1000 thrill' (each £1 bond qualified for a monthly prize draw with a top win of £1000), government-guaranteed savings bonds were an instant hit with the public when first launched by PM Harold Macmillan in 1956.
