Overview

A family film their travels to Looe in Cornwall. Scenic views of the town and coast. Britons enjoy their holidays at home in the 1950s giving rise to the expansion of domestic tourism in the post-war era. Seaside resorts such as Looe become popular destinations.

In the 1950s holidays are a family affair, bed and breakfasts, holiday lodgings or holiday camps are the choice of many instead of big expensive hotels. The two women are mostly filmed with the views in this Home Movie compilation suggesting the film had their husbands behind the camera. After sending the film away for developing, they would have sat down to a home projection so just imagine the noise of the film reel gently whirring in the background.
